FITMENT

  • 2020–2023 Chevrolet Silverado / GMC Sierra Duramax L5P 2500HD & 3500HD Diesel.

DESCRIPTION

Product Overview

  • If you are upgrading your exhaust or performing a delete on a 20–23 model, removing the DPF, SCR, and DEF systems leaves critical electrical plugs unplugged beneath your truck.
  • Leaving these sensitive connections exposed to water, road salt, and mud will short-circuit your vehicle’s Controller Area Network (CAN Bus) and trigger immediate limp mode.
  • This 4-piece plug-and-play set caps off the open factory harness connectors and loops the communication signals, keeping truck's network running flawlessly and protected from the elements.
Key Features
  • OEM-Grade Weatherproof Seal: Built with high-temperature automotive-grade plastic and premium rubber seals to guarantee a vibration-proof, waterproof fit.
  • Shields Redesigned Connectors: Specially molded to fit the updated 20-23 GM plug shapes, blocking out water, road salt, and debris.
  • Completes the CAN Bus Loop: Pre-wired internal loops keep communication channels active between vital onboard modules, preventing communication fault codes (U-codes).
  • Plug-and-Play: Requires no wire slicing, cutting, or custom pin-swapping. They snap directly into your truck's factory harness in minutes.

FAQ

Q: What happens if I leave the factory connectors open without this kit?

A: You risk immediate corrosion and CAN Bus failure.Moisture and road grime will bridge the exposed pins inside the open harness. This causes electrical shorts that disrupt communication between your ECM and other vital modules, leading to dashboard error codes and limp mode.

Q: Why does a 2020–2023 L5P need these plugs after an exhaust upgrade?

A: Removing factory emissions equipment leaves open harness plugs under your truck. This kit caps those ports to keep out water and dirt while completing the CAN Bus circuit for normal module communication.

Q: Are these plugs durable enough to handle harsh winter road salt and off-roading?

A: Yes. Made from heat-stabilized, automotive-grade polymer with internal rubber gaskets, they create a waterproof seal that completely blocks out mud, pressure washers, and corrosive winter road salt.

Q: What is included in this "All-In-One" kit, and why buy it as a bundle?

A: This bundle includes the EGR delete, CCV reroute, DPF delete pipe, 3.5" downpipe, and CAN Bus plugs. Bundling guarantees compatibility, saves money over buying parts separately, and cuts labor costs by letting your mechanic install everything at once.

Fixed the Christmas tree dash on my 2022

After running a delete tune on my 2022 Silverado 3500 the dash lit up like a Christmas tree — traction control, ABS, emissions, you name it. Plugged these 4 connectors in and everything cleared within seconds. No more reduced power, no more limp mode. Absolutely essential if you're tuning a 2020+ L5P.

Wish it had a QR code to install video

The printed instructions are good but a short YouTube install video linked via QR code would make it even easier. Especially for that fourth plug location. Printed photos can only show so much. Still a 4-star product, just a suggestion for the next batch.

Dealer wanted $2800 — I spent under $100

GM dealership diagnosed a 'CAN bus communication failure' on my 2020 2500 HD and quoted $2800 to replace the entire exhaust after-treatment harness assembly. A tuner friend said try CAN bus plugs first. These fixed everything. $2800 quote vs whatever these cost. Criminal what dealers charge.

Quality connectors — automotive grade

As a fleet diesel tech I'm picky about electrical connectors. These are legit automotive-grade: glass-filled nylon housings, double-lip silicone seals, gold terminals. I've seen OEM connectors that aren't this well made. Installed them on our shop's 2021 demo truck, zero issues after 4 months.

Ended my limp mode nightmare

My 2020 2500 would randomly enter limp mode on the highway after the delete — doing 70 and suddenly lose all power with trucks behind me. Installed these 6 weeks ago. Haven't seen limp mode since. I now trust my truck again.

Florida humidity — seals are holding strong

Florida truck, parked outside, daily humidity in the 90s. Six months installed and I pulled one connector just to check — terminals are still bright gold, no green corrosion, seals still pliable. That silicone gasket is doing its job.

2021 Denali — plug and play

Took literally 3 minutes to install on my 2021 GMC Denali HD. The included diagram shows exactly where each plug goes on the 2020-2023 engine bay. Connectors fit snug and click in securely. No tools needed. If you've done a delete on this generation of L5P these are mandatory equipment.

Clear instructions with actual photos

The instruction card has real color photos of a 2020-2023 engine bay, not some generic sketch. Each plug is labeled and the 4 connector locations are clearly marked. Even someone with zero electrical experience could install these. 5 minutes tops.

Bought the wrong ones first — learned my lesson

I accidentally ordered the 2017-2019 plugs first (my fault not TruckTok's). The 2020+ plugs are different — different connector locations and the harness is routed differently. Make sure you get these ones if you have a 2020-2023. The correct ones fit perfectly.

Towed a 16K fifth wheel 5000 miles — zero codes

Installed these before a month-long RV trip towing a 41' toy hauler through the Rockies. 5000 miles, elevation from sea level to 11000 ft, temperatures from 35°F to 105°F. Not a single CAN bus error. Not one limp mode incident. This product is proven.

Saved me from selling the truck

I was so frustrated with my 2021 after the delete — constant codes, limp mode, couldn't haul my trailer safely. Was ready to list it. A diesel forum recommended CAN bus plugs and these specifically. Truck runs flawlessly now. Literally saved me from a bad financial decision.

Bay Area summer — heat hasn't fazed them

Sacramento Valley summer, engine bay temps well over 200°F sitting in traffic. No connector warping or seal degradation. The nylon housing hasn't softened and the silicone gaskets still feel brand new. Quality thermoplastics make the difference.

Night and day vs Amazon cheapies

First set I bought was some no-name brand from Amazon — terminals were loose, housing felt like recycled plastic, one plug cracked during install. Returned those and got TruckTok. These click in with authority, the terminals are tight, and the build quality is obvious before you even install them.

Works with HP Tuners — zero comm issues

Tuning a 2023 L5P with the latest HP Tuners MPVI3. After delete I was getting intermittent U-codes and communication drops during data logging. These plugs resolved everything. ECU reads are now rock solid during pulls. No lost data, no limp mode triggers.

Connector behind the intake is annoying to reach

Three of the four plugs are a breeze — passenger side, front, and driver side top are all easy. The fourth one is tucked behind the intake manifold near the firewall and is a knuckle-scraper. Still doable, just takes patience. Factory routed that harness in a terrible spot.

EZ Lynk AutoCal 2 compatibility confirmed

EZ Lynk with AutoCal 2 on a 2022 GMC 3500. After flashing the delete tune, all the expected codes went away except CAN bus U-codes. Connected these 4 plugs and within 5 seconds the whole CAN network settled down. Cruising at 75 mph — zero faults.

Essential for any 2020+ L5P delete

If you're deleting a 2020-2023 Duramax, order these at the same time you order your tuner. Don't wait until you're stuck in limp mode at 2am on some back road. These are not optional — the CAN bus on these trucks goes haywire without proper termination. Consider them part of the delete kit.

Took a few drive cycles to settle

Installed on my 2022 and still had a pending U-code for about 3 days and maybe 5-6 drive cycles. Then it cleared and never came back. I'm guessing the ECM needed time to relearn the network topology. Just be patient if you see a pending code in the first week.
