2022 Silverado 2500. Installed this 3.5-inch downpipe, a cold air intake, and an EZ Lynk tune. The L5P went from a torquey work truck to an actual performance diesel. The downpipe is the piece that lets all the other mods work — you can tune and intake all you want but if the exhaust is bottlenecked at the turbo outlet you are leaving power on the table. This pipe unlocks the L5P's potential.

I have bought three TruckTok products now — the intake horn, the EGR delete kit, and this downpipe. Every single one has been properly machined, properly packaged, and properly documented. The downpipe is 16-gauge 304 polished stainless with reinforcement gussets at the turbo flange. The welds are fully penetrated and back-purged. This is not a Chinese eBay pipe with booger welds. TruckTok is building a real brand here.

My 2019 L5P still has the factory muffler and DPF (for now). Even with the stock exhaust behind it, the 3.5-inch downpipe changed the exhaust note. Deeper idle, cleaner turbo spool sound, and a subtle but noticeable change in tone under load. The sound difference alone is worth the price. It sounds like a diesel truck now instead of a vacuum cleaner.

2018 Silverado 3500 dually pulling a 48-foot gooseneck livestock trailer — 24,000 pounds loaded. Before this downpipe, EGTs would creep toward 1200 on the mountain grades and I would have to back out of the throttle. After the 3.5-inch pipe, EGTs peak at 1050 on the same grades and I can hold 65 mph. That 150-degree difference is the margin between making schedule and crawling up a grade at 45. For heavy haulers this pipe is not optional.

The L5P engine bay is tight. I was worried a 3.5-inch pipe would hit the firewall or the transmission bellhousing. It does not. TruckTok nailed the routing. Clears everything with about half an inch on each side. The mandrel bend is smooth with no crush marks or diameter reduction. Installed on my 2017 Denali HD with zero fitment issues. 10,000 miles and no rattles or leaks.

2020 Silverado 3500. Factory L5P downpipe is only 3 inches with a crushed bend at the firewall — GM choked this engine from the factory. Upgrading to the TruckTok 3.5-inch mandrel-bent pipe is a night and day difference. EGTs dropped 130 degrees on my tow tune and the turbo spools faster at low RPM. If you are doing anything to your L5P — tune, intake, delete — do the downpipe first. It is the single biggest flow restriction on these trucks.

The pipe is fantastic. The install on a 2021 with 80K miles was a battle because the factory turbo V-band clamp was rust-welded solid. Soaked it in penetrating oil for three hours and still needed a torch. That is not the pipe's fault — it is GM's fasteners. Once the old pipe was out, this one slid in perfectly. Budget an extra hour if your truck has seen winter salt.

2019 Silverado HD. Did the TruckTok intake horn and this 3.5-inch downpipe at the same time. More air in + more exhaust out = the L5P runs like a different engine. Throttle response is immediate, turbo whistle is clean and noticeable, and my fuel economy on the highway went from 16.5 to 18.9 on a 200-mile test loop. These two mods together cost less than a good tuner and deliver real results.
