Q: Will this cover work on both the Classic and New Body Ram 1500?
A: Yes! As long as your Ram has a 6.4 ft bed and does not have the RamBox system, it will fit. The 6.4 ft bed dimensions and rail profiles are compatible across both Classic and New Body generations (as well as Ram 2500/3500 models).
Q: Do I need to remove the factory bed rail caps or plastic trim to install this?
A: No. The mounting clamps are specifically designed to grip the underside metal bed flange underneath your factory plastic rail caps. Nothing needs to be removed or trimmed—just position the clamps and tighten them down.
Q: How does it hold up to automatic car washes?
A: The full-perimeter weather seal effectively repels water during high-pressure washes. To protect the matte textured finish, touchless car washes are recommended over automated brush washes to avoid superficial scuffing.
Q: Is the tailgate accessible without opening the cover?
A: Yes! The flexible rear sealing strip allows you to open and close your tailgate independently. Since the cover's rear latches are located inside the truck bed, locking your tailgate completely secures the entire bed.
Q: If I’m between this and a soft roll-up, what’s the real-world difference?
A: Security and durability, mainly. A soft cover stops rain and prying eyes; this one stops a crowbar.
