Safety & Testing
Every TruckTok hitch component is crafted from high-grade, premium materials and engineered to meet rigorous industry towing safety standards. Our weight and break strength ratings are backed by extensive laboratory load testing to ensure reliable, heavy-duty performance under real-world conditions. Every structural component undergoes strict, multi-stage quality control before leaving our facility to guarantee maximum safety and peace of mind on the road.
Q: Can I tow and recover with this hitch at the same time?
A: No — you’ll be doing one or the other. Tow with the ball, recover with the shackle. The beauty is you don’t need to swap hardware — both are always on the truck, ready when you need them.
Q: Can I swap the 2" ball for a different size?
A: Yes — the ball is secured with a large hex nut and spring washer underneath, so it’s fully replaceable. Use a large wrench to remove the nut, swap in a 1-7/8" or 2-5/16" ball, and torque it back down. This is actually a flexibility advantage over permanently welded ball mounts — you’re not locked into one size.
Q: Will the red D-ring shackle fade over time? A: The shackle’s powder coat is UV-stabilized to resist fading, but all colored finishes eventually show sun wear if parked outside 24/7. The corrosion protection under the color coat remains intact regardless of fading. The black body won’t show age the way a colored body would.
Q: Can I use the shackle for towing or only recovery?
A: Recovery only. The shackle is not a ball — never attach a trailer coupler to it. Use the 2" ball on the opposite side for all towing.
Q: Need dedicated recovery gear or a different hitch setup?
A: For maximum recovery strength, check out our 70,000 lbs D-ring hitch receiver. If you need adjustable height, our 6" adjustable drop hitch covers multiple trailer heights.
