DESCRIPTION
Product Overview
- The 01-07 Silverado and Sierra 2500HD/3500HD platforms equipped with LB7, LLY, and LBZ engines are legendary for their bulletproof reliability.
- However, the restrictive OEM factory exhaust system—clogged with a heavy CAT converter and a massive, restrictive muffler—stifles your engine's true potential.
- This restriction causes excessive backpressure, traps extreme heat right behind the turbo, inflates your Exhaust Gas Temperatures and suffocates throttle response, especially when pulling heavy trailers or heading off-road.
Key Features
- Premium T-409 Stainless Steel: Heavy-duty, corrosion-resistant, and built with smooth weld seams to withstand extreme heat.
- Eliminate Factory Restrictions: Replaces the power-robbing OEM catalytic converter and the massive factory muffler that choke engine's breath.
- Drastic EGT & Backpressure Drop: Eliminates the bottleneck right behind the turbo. It rapidly drops EGTs—critical for LB7 trucks pushing high power and LLY owners looking to eliminate heat-soak issues under heavy load.
- Engineered for Modified Trucks (80+ HP): This 5" exhaust provides maximum airflow for upgraded turbos, built transmissions, and larger injectors at wide-open throttle.
FAQ
Q: Will this lower my EGTs when I tow heavy loads?
A: Yes. The heavy factory exhaust setup creates substantial backpressure that traps heat under load. It drops backpressure to near zero to lower EGTs. This is the most effective mod to manage tow temperatures.
Q: Does the 5" system require custom or aftermarket hangers?
A: No. The system features rugged, pre-welded OE-style hangers designed to slip perfectly into your truck’s factory rubber exhaust mounts. The installation process is completely identical to our 4" system.
Q: Will the 5" pipe hang lower than my factory exhaust?
A: The system is engineered to follow the exact same high-clearance routing paths as your factory setup, so your ground clearance remains virtually identical. If your truck is lifted, clearance is completely fine. If your truck is heavily lowered, the 4" version sits slightly closer to the frame rail.
Q: How much horsepower will the 5" add over the 4" version?
A: On stock/mild trucks: Zero. A 5" pipe won't out-power a 4" pipe unless exhaust volume maxes out the 4" system. It only adds power on built trucks with larger aftermarket turbos (75+ lb/min) by removing the top-end restriction a 4" pipe creates.
