DESCRIPTION

Product Overview

  • The Trucktok EcoDiesel Oil Filter is a premium cartridge-style element engineered specifically for the EcoDiesel V6 engine platform. This filter snaps securely onto your factory oil filter cap stalk without forcing or requiring adapter rings, ensuring an effortless and precise direct fit.
  • Constructed with high-efficiency, resin-impregnated cellulose media, it is specifically built to capture the fine carbon soot, metal wear particles, and combustion sludge common to modern diesel engines. Every filter includes a premium, heat-resistant replacement rubber O-ring to replace the worn factory seal, ensuring a leak-free barrier on the filter cap across all operating temperatures.

Key Features

  • Resin-impregnated media with precise pleating captures carbon soot, metallic wear particles, and combustion sludge, protecting critical engine bearings from premature wear.
  • Precision-engineered cartridge snaps securely onto the factory oil filter cap stalk with no forcing, adapter rings, or installation guesswork.
  • Includes a premium, heat-resistant replacement rubber O-ring to replace the worn factory seal, guaranteeing a leak-free barrier across the engine's entire operating temperature range.
  • Designed to optimize oil flow channels, ensuring immediate pressure delivery during cold starts to prevent dry-run bearing wear.

Replacement Interval

  • Replace every 10,000 miles or 12 months under normal driving conditions. For severe-duty use (heavy towing, frequent idling, or dusty environments), shorten the interval to every 7,500 miles to ensure optimal engine lubrication.
  • Always replace the filter cap O-ring (included in the box) and lubricate it with a dab of fresh engine oil before tightening the cap to torque specifications to prevent leaks.

FAQ

Q: Why does the EcoDiesel use a cartridge filter instead of a spin-on canister?

A:  The EcoDiesel platform uses a top-load cartridge filter system integrated directly into the upper engine compartment. This design makes oil changes much cleaner and faster by allowing easy top-side access without crawling underneath the vehicle. It also reduces environmental waste, as only the filtration media is disposed of rather than a heavy steel housing.

Q: How do I replace this cartridge filter properly?

A: To replace the filter, use a 36mm socket to unscrew the housing cap on top of the engine, pull it out, and snap the old cartridge off the cap stalk; then, click the new filter into place, swap the old O-ring with the new one included in the box (remembering to lubricate it with fresh oil), and carefully thread the cap back on, torqueing it to 25 N·m (18 ft-lbs) without over-tightening to prevent cracking the plastic housing.

Q: What happens if I use the wrong oil filter?

A: A filter cartridge that does not seat properly or snap securely onto the cap stalk can dislodge inside the housing under pressure. This can cut off critical oil flow, causing severe engine damage in seconds. Third-generation EcoDiesel engines use a completely different integrated cap-and-filter assembly that will not fit this housing. Always verify you are using this correct split-element design matching OE number 68229402AA.

Q: Can I use full synthetic oil with this filter?

A: Yes, and full synthetic oil is highly recommended. The premium resin-impregnated media used in this filter is specially engineered to withstand synthetic oil’s active detergent packages and maintain its structural integrity over extended service intervals without collapsing.

Q: Since I am changing my oil filter, what other routine filters should I replace?

A:  While you are performing under-hood maintenance, it is the perfect time to check your Cabin Air Filter. Replacing a clogged cabin filter  with our activated carbon replacement ensures that diesel exhaust fumes, pollen, and road dust are captured before they ever enter the passenger cabin.
