• If you own a 2004.5-2005 LLY Duramax, you likely know about its notorious tendency to run hot when towing. A massive reason for this is the factory intake elbow.

Q: Both products have "Intake Elbow" in their names. What is the main difference between them?

A: EGR Delete intake mounts on top of the engine to replace the restrictive throttle valve/EGR assembly and block off soot, while Turbo Intake Elbow mounts directly to the turbocharger inlet at the back of the engine, replacing the pinched factory plastic mouthpiece with a high-flow aluminum pipe to cure air starvation.

Q: Why is Turbo Intake Elbow / Mouthpiece so important for the LLY engine specifically?

A: The factory LLY mouthpiece is a notorious design flaw—crimped and pinched like a blocked straw. This starves the turbo of air, spikes EGTs, and causes overheating under heavy towing. Q: Will this intake elbow trigger a Check Engine Light or require tuning?
